Enemy Forces in Najaf Have Been Completely Defeated

This is item number one for the most under-reported story of the day:
IRAQI SECURITY FORCES TAKE CONTROL OF AN NAJAF PROVINCE FOB DUKE, Iraq –Approximately three months after decisive combat operations ended in Najaf, the 11th MEU commander declared today that Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) have formally assumed local control of An Najaf province. Since fighting ended Aug. 28, no major incidents have occurred despite reduced MEU security operations in the city and the Ramadan holiday.
Go read the whole article. Why isn't this on the front pages? There will be more stories like this in the next 18 months if we play our cards right . . .

The MSM will not report it because it has no car bombs or mass causalities. The news is just too constructive and there is not a hint of American defeatism.

What the MSM wants to talk about is the "1,000th" American death and the "spike" in American casualties in the month of November (and don't dare mention the destruction of terrorists or clearing of mosques of weapons). One must realize the elite media talking heads of 70's are now at their apogee in life and yearn for the good old days of protests, flag burning and defeatism.

I was just wondering what was going on with Najaf and the Sadr followers. Last I heard was in August when Sistani and the U.S. military "negotiated" his butt out of that mosque. Then...nothing. Thanks for reporting this fantastic story. Certainly in keeping with the old cliche, no news is good news. That should be the replacement for the NYT's all the news that is fit to print (and that makes the military/Bush/Repubs look bad).
