To shamelessly toot my own horn: while I am generally sympathetic to the Ukrainian democracy activists, I, also, tend to take a different view of the Ukraine situation, which I have articulated here:http://dhchaos.blogspot.com/2004/12/what-is-us-doing-in-ukraine.html
Really, this is all such nutty tripe.MSM isn't wrong about EVERYTHING. Were they wrong to support Yeltsin against the old Coup Leaders? You think there weren't a few anti-Semites who supported Yeltsin standing in front of the tanks at the Russian White House?Yankovich is a front-man for a hideously corrupt and murderous kleptocracy, as well as for Russian irredentism.Yushchenko is a pretty decent sort and a dull banker who tried to bring fiscal reform and transparency to Ukrainian government and was chased out of office for doing it. And Yushchenko--sorry to those who point out POSSIBLE trivial kinds of fraud on his behalf--OBVIOUSLY won the election! Whereas, MASSIVE fraud was committed by Kuchma/Yankovich (i.e., the BAD guys.)Let's try arguing that al-Sadr was a pretty good fellow who is misunderstood and Allawi (who has a lot more faults than Yushchenko) should be getting the finger from us; do you buy that one?Sorry, but this Orange Revolution thing is not a battle of the grays, it's a triumph of the human spirit. Wake up, sillies!Jeff
And the bloggers didn't MISS the Orange Revolution. They were and ARE an ongoing part of it.Try:http://www.orangeukraine.squarespace.com/http://www.postmodernclog.com/http://www.tulipgirl.com/SCSU Scholars, a part of the Northern Alliance of conservative bloggers, is doing other stuff now, but they were posting constantly with great stuff during the big demonstrations, etc.Jeff
