Leadership of Mosul Terror Network Has Been Rolled Up
Centcom reports that three of the top four leaders of the Zarqawi network's branch in Mosul have been captured in the past few days:
-on December 23rd, Abu Marwan was captured
-on December 22nd, Abdul Aziz Sa'dun Ahmed Hamduni was captured. This information is being released today.
-"Security forces also recently captured another senior Talha member whose name cannot be released due to operational security reasons." Perhaps this is what generated the Zarqawi rumors earlier in the week?
Interesting bit on the future of these detainees: "The Central Criminal Court of Iraq is committed to providing a fair trial to those allegedly engaging in terrorist activities. Those found guilty will be punished accordingly, and thus lose the ability to provide for the future of their families."

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Pentagon is debating whether to set up elite hit-squads to target leaders of the Iraq insurgency in a new strategy based on tactics used against leftist guerrillas in Central America 20 years ago, Newsweek magazine reported on Saturday.
One proposal would send U.S. Special Forces teams to advise, support and possibly train Iraqi squads of hand-picked Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and Shiite militiamen to target Sunni insurgents and their sympathizers, Newsweek said, citing military insiders familiar with the discussions.

My god. I agree with "hit squads" both militarily and pragmatically. However, the first "hit" that takes place will create a huge stir in our left winf=g MSM abd the left wing of congress.
I believe we have hit squads any way. They are just called something else (Hunter Killer Teams, Task Force This and That, etc).
I thin this just formalizes things which will allow a greater use of resources.
