I had to register to post a comment. A couple of notes: I noticed that early military objectives included the taking of mosques. I see the importance for a couple of reasons: 1) Mosques broadcast encouragment to the terrorists "Allah-o-Akbar" 2) the symbolism of occupying such an important structure 3) minarets oversee large parts of the city and can be used to direct command and control or for snipers.
